Market Development Manager

General Summary:

The IND Water Treatment - Market Development Manager (MDM) has the overall responsibility for market Development and Sales growth of Dosing & Dosing Skid Systems(DSS) and Water Treatment systems via the Grundfos Engineered Systems group. The IND-WT MDM works closely with the IND sales team & channel partners, as well as the Manufacturing Company (GPU/YCC/PPU3) to meet the annual goals. The IND-WT MDM is responsibility for developing implementing marketing strategies and sales tactics to achieve the budgeted sales, market share, and profit growth goals. The IND-WT MDM will be a member of the IND leadership team, and participate in senior staff meetings and will contribute to the overall strategies and business direction of the IND business unit.

 

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Responsible for leading Dosing/DSS & WT systems sales activities within the US IND & Water Treatment market including:
    1. Work with Sales Leadership, RSMs, DSMs, TSMs and channel partners & OEMs to provide forecasting estimates for current products.
    2. Manage and report on the overall Dosing & DSS and WT Systems sales pipeline in CRM.
    3. Ensure that the sales, market share, and profit objectives are achieved for each product line and market segment.
    4. Work closely with the sales team to coordinate the reporting of sales and competitive trends and provide market place analysis as part of the senior staff team to establish strategies and determine the best business direction to take.
    5. Work closely with the inside Dosing Product Management, DSS & GES applications engineering and project management teams to ensure projects are executed satisfactorily.
  2. Ensure the necessary organizational capabilities are in place to engineer, quote and deliver on packaged Dosing & Water Treatment systems in a way that meets or exceeds the market standard.
  3. Lead the development of sales volume and sales expense budgets based on the Segment goals.
  4. Develop a strong distribution strategy and implement the necessary changes to increase coverage and gain market share in your own Market Segments as well as being closely aligned with other Market Segments.
  5. Full participation and compliance with Grundfos USA commercial excellence activities, such as pipeline management, rhythm meetings, SIOP planning and CRM.
  6. Develop strong relationship with all major distribution partners, OEM partners, industry consultants, and professional and trade association leaders.
  7. Work with the sales team and channel partners to analyze trends and potential within existing and new markets, establish new partners in each market, and ensure excellent support for partners.
  8. Support the segment strategies and activities for investigating and launching new products.   Forecast projections will need to be supported by budget commitments.
  9. Duties and responsibilities may be added, deleted, or changed at any time at the discretion of management, formally or informally, either verbally or in writing.

 

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

 

  1. Strong Team Player with the ability to develop and lead multiple sales teams and work cross functionally across multiple business units.
  2. Excellent technical skills and knowledge of Dosing & Water Treatment system design and manufacturing.
  3. Track record of success in a project sales environment, including excellent pipeline management skills.
  4. Able to work with geographically separated groups and many people with different ideas to accomplish the target goals. (Sales and manufacturing company management staff, sales force, North American and headquarters product segment team, Partners, etc.)
  5. Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  6. Excellent organizational skills.
  7. Microsoft Office computer skill level “good” in Word, Excel, and Power Point.   Able to develop “what-if” spreadsheets, presentations, etc.
  8. Good ability to translate sales reports, market studies, and industry reports into successful strategies.
  9. Good ability to manage budgets.
  10. Possesses first hand knowledge of the Industrial Water Treatment market and Dosing products.  In addition, has knowledge of Water Treatment OEM markets.
  11. Has a working knowledge of customer service, application engineering, and logistics functions

 

Education and Experience:

 

 

  1. Bachelors of Science or equivalent in Engineering, Marketing, Business, Sales, or Public Relations.   Masters Degree preferred.
  2. 5-7 years’ experience in the Dosing & Water Treatment Systems industry in a marketing/ sales environment.
  3. Experience selling Dosing & Water Treatment systems across the full spectrum of influencers in the sales process, including channel partners, consulting engineers, contractors and end-users.
